This is a drumming web-site, you dig? We wrote down the stuff they don’t normally write down. We came up with new stuff, and keep coming up with it. We package it and give it to you to make you better, or piss you off. That’s the What. 

The how, though, is another story. Let alone the why. 

The Anti-Pop Percussion movement has a decades-long (at least two) history that’s largely myth and innuendo. Birthed (spawned, even) as a back-of-bus concept as a platform of self expression, the underground Anti-Pop has made its home in some of the country’s most ill-reputed metro areas (Need I mention Chicago? Need I mention Sin City?)... Along with more “folksy” settings like you might find in the backwoods of former confederate states…. And through each stop the movement has evolved and grown fiercer and more chimerical. 

If you think you’ve seen Anti-pop, you haven’t. Maybe you saw last week.. Maybe you saw yesterday.....but Anti-pop is always today… Sure some things stay the same, that unique style that’s a gonzo cocktail of throwback counterculture and new age rebellion…but other things change, as we’ve feasted on and taken inspiration from classic rock, punk, grunge,R&B, Hip-Hop, jazz, and funk…whatever you got, we’ll eat the funk bits and throw spit out the bones. Unrecognizable, unforgettable, but always a beat in there somewhere to get the head bobbing. If you’re into that.  

What’s the point? Well, in so far as such things set a direction, our goal has consistently been to challenge the status quo and generate irreversible change in the standards and methods of beat-dropping. Don’t take our word for it, listen and look (but not yet. Read to the bottom. We tied our tame copywriter to his desk and fed him full of vices until he generated this text, so the least you can do is read it). 

Today, in this iteration, you’ve found us working diligently to undermine current thought leaders (which thoughts? Doesn’t matter. Disrupt!) through self expression and technical excellence unmistakable from zealotry. So let’s shake things up… Build towards a better (or at least radically different) musical tomorrow.. And turn this mother out!
